About the Artist

Hello!

As you may have guessed, my name is Sabrina Tanaka. I am a Japanese-Canadian artist based in Lincoln Ontario. I have been blessed with a wonderful daughter and a husband with dad-jokes for days. I love to create beautiful, quirky, cute characters often inspired by my daughter and her imagination/adventures.

I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. My family moved around a lot when I was young and eventually moved from Vancouver to Japan, and in all this time the only constant in my life was art. It was my escape when I didn't fit in, sketching figures/characters inspired by the manga I would read. I would be creating characters who didn't fit in, just like me.

I didn't really fit in anywhere or know what to do, until I realized I had been created to create, and in that I not only found out where I belonged, but why I am here.

As a self-taught artist and creator I enjoy working in both traditional (currently watercolor and ink) and digital media to express ideas and inspiration that come my way. Even though I know where I belong, I think it still shows in a lot in my pieces, "a girl that doesn't fit in", but not with the need or desire to fit in. Someone who is okay with being different, and celebrating that.

All of my prints are done by me in house using high quality light fast inks on archival grade paper, ready to last for a lifetime. I am a perfectionist, and I think you will see that in every piece you get.

Thank you so much for visiting my shop! I hope you find some art you love!
